Since its inception the Indian
Buildings Congress has been organising Seminars on subjects of topical
interests, one to coincide with the Annual Convention and the other on
the occasion of mid-term session. It also publishes quarterly bulletin
“IBC News”. It has also instituted awards for the best papers presented
in the Seminars and items relating to excellence in built environment.
The first Seminar on the theme `Buildings in National Development’ was
held at New Delhi on October 4-5, 1994. Since then, five more Annual Conventions
along with Seminars at Delhi and six Midterm Seminars outside Delhi i.e.
at Jaipur, Roorkee, Chandigarh, Pune, Chennai & Pondicherry have been
organised. The third and fourth Annual Conventions were inaugurated by
the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and Hon’ble Vice President of India
respectively. The 5th Annual Convention with a Seminar on the
theme, “Total Quality Management in Building Construction” was held on
April 22-24, 1999 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Sixth annual Convention
& Seminar on Education and Training of Building professionals was
organised in New Delhi, on April 20-22, 2000.
